We are happy to announce that we were featured recently on Wanna Be Bride Serbia.

But for our non-Serbian friends and family, we have made this english version available.

When and how did you step into the world of photography?

Ivan’s love for photography began while riding bicycles. He discovered a passion for taking macro photos of bugs and mushrooms back in 2003. In 2005, he joined ships as a cruise photographer and sometime in 2008 he met Diana who was a new hire then. Diana’s father was a photographer so she grew up being photographed very often by him influencing her to take up Film in university. She bought her first digital camera in 2008 right before joining ships as a photographer, and from then on her obsession for documenting beauty did not stop.

Why do you find wedding photography to be different than any other type of photography?

Wedding photography is perhaps one the most challenging types of photography as you cannot predict how the day will go. It involves a lot of emotional significance, many people, a few locations, and different lighting conditions. We always have to find balance between being a “director” visualizing the feel of the day together with the couple’s ideas and preference, and being a “silent worker” shooting from a distance. With other type of shoots, you can work around a certain schedule, but with weddings, you gotta be creative, a leader and people-person all at once.

How does your working day look like?

We are first parents, so we start our working day playing with our little girl, Lili. She is our inspiration for everything, and then work begins (at home) after she has eaten her breakfast. We spend the whole day editing, squeezing in client meetings over coffee or skype.  On wedding shoots, we work effortlessly together, doing the planning together and making the shot list together. And on a normal working day at home, before going to bed, we update our facebook page, website, and research concepts for future shoots.

How is the feeling working with your better part?

We really think that we have great dynamics and we definitely feed each others’ creativity. We were colleagues first before we fell in love with each other so we did not have major adjustments working together now as a team. The best thing about working together is that we can be productive together and brutally honest to each other 😉

What is the best part of your job?

The traveling when we hunt for locations and when we travel for shoots. We like being on the move, exploring different locations, as we don’t like repeating ourselves. When we are on the road looking for that perfect spot where to photograph our couples, that’s when we feel that we have the best job in the world; getting paid for “being out there”.

What is the project you are currently working on?

We are very excited preparing for a trip to the Philippines as wedding season in Serbia ends. We are flying to Manila for 2 months to visit Diana’s family and it would be really interesting to do some shoots there.

What are your plans for the future?

We hope that our name will spread beyond the Balkan borders. And we’d love to shoot a wedding somewhere in the Mediterranean.

Santorini Ivan Diana Photography

This was us photographed in Santorini, Greece by Elaine Gil (one of our favorite photos together). Would be nice to one day shoot a wedding there.

AGAIN, thank you so much to Jovana Katic for this feature.
